Who is Areeba?
Ever since I got to make a prosthetic arm through a Boys and Girls Club of Chicago program when I was in seventh grade, I knew I wanted to be a biomedical engineer. I also didn’t want to leave Chicago, my home. Illinois Tech has provided a perfect balance for the hands-on, engineering-focused education I wanted, all in my backyard. I have spent the last four years creating an EKG machine, EMG machine, and so much more in the lab while building the soft skills to be a well-rounded professional engineer.
That’s Interesting
I got an internship at Griffin Museum of Science and Industry through Illinois Tech. As a kid, I would go to the museum all the time. Then I got to be behind the scenes and see everything. It has been such a surreal experience to see the way I’ve grown and changed and how Illinois Tech helped me get to a place where I have been able to see so much more.
